Fly, Turn on wing

Fly, Turn on wing
Run as far as you can.

Let none stop you in your flight
lest the suns first rays
break upon your back.

Else the hunters watchful eyes
See the sun on your heel.
Or your silhouette glimpsed upon the wall.

Flee, warn those you meet
There is no shame in this.
The Glory of the battle,
will crest more quickly than you know.

All will be swept into its fold
That is when you must be strong
Turning as one and facing the fear most base.
Knowing that this will pass,
through and over you.

Duncan and the Darkman

Duncan knew that he was alone in the bar.   So why was he not surprised when he saw a man in black leaning against the bar, idly flipping a coin?  The man spoke softly, firmly " Why mister Denton, lucky meeting you here.  I simply came in for a drink, pity the bar seems to have run dry. "

Duncan glanced around the empty room and reached into his trouser pocket , withdrawing  a slender silver flask and tossing it to the figure.
" Oh what a treat. Some of your private stock." Unscrewing the cap and taking a long swallow. Recapping the flask and tossing it back in a  smooth underhand toss. " My, my that is a lovely brew that you have there, makes me wonder where you stole it from. "
Duncan's hand never left the well worn grips of his heavy pistols as he casually walked down the stairs.  He had known that this day would come although he had hoped that he would have had more time to prepare. Funny that the Council would choose to send his long time adversary all the way into the wilderness  to this deserted little mining town where he had long ago chosen for his exile.
"Now Duncan , surely you know I am not here to fight you. Not today anyway. We both know that fight is inevitable." said  the Dark man as he leaned back across the dusty bar. Then with a blur and a clatter of boots on the hard wooden floor  he was behind the bar. Bending over and rummaging through the dusty discarded glasses and stiff rags , the Dark man stood up stiffly , slipping a box of shells into his pocket and hoisting a coach gun over his shoulder .

"If you don't mind  Ill be taking these . You still have the other three and I am sure that those three will keep you safe here in your little fortress." The dark man smirked. " Just be careful Duncan the,  wolves are closing in faster than you think. "
With that, the Dark man nodded at Duncan , vaulted neatly back over the bar and was gone leaving the double doors flapping in his wake.   Duncan slipped the now empty flask back into his pocket , made his way back up the stairs.  and paused a minute looking back down at the swinging doors. Turning and making his way to his room Duncan knew it was time to move along, he had simply been here too long.

short stories

Conroco City, he had made and lost many friends there. It was where he had spent his formative years. Growing and adjusting to what he could do .  The the disappointment, understanding, that he was special, finding out that he was alone and making a place for himself here. He was called by a different name then, a name he no longer used bit still answered to.

There had been so many angry voices that day. So much rage and confusion.  Phernoch had almost been swayed to change his mind.  Almost. He knew he was doing the right thing. He was growing up, and Sometimes, you just have to leave home and strike your flag in a new place.

And so it was, that Artimus and Solulus fought side by side and did such the rumors of their heroism grew. Solulus received word from the town of Dolehaven that they where under siege from a powerful demon. The two warriors kitted up and left their homes to do battle with this demon named Walear.  The three clashed for hours wearing each other down, and bringing the fighting to a standstill.  Resting for a while. produced a scroll bearing several divine markings and declared " If we cannot best this demon then let it be bound to me!"
Fortified by the short break.  The two set upon Walear once more with fury. Then under the silvery full moon, Solulus was pinned beneath the demons blade, Artimus grabbed the scroll and started the incantation. Upon reaching the end of the spell, Artimus places his hand on the demons back  and Solulus cried out in horror as he watched the foul beast get rapped within his long time friend.

Dropping his sword  and stumbling away from the battlefield and into the dark woods.
